• Presence of controls. In accordance with clause 5.5.1 of GOST R 53260-2019: "All controls of the self-rescuer (levers, buttons, etc.) shall be easily accessible and convenient for operation, and shall be reliably protected from mechanical damage and accidental activation." Clause 5.5.2 of GOST R 53260-2009 states: "The controls shall activate with an applied force not exceeding 80 N."
• The presence of head harness straps on the self-rescuer hood allows the user to adjust the tightness of the facepiece seal against the face.
• Donning and activation time of the self-rescuer shall not exceed 15 seconds.
In case of fire development in a building, it should be considered that the main pathways for fire and smoke spread in civil and industrial buildings may include:
External and internal surfaces of combustible structures (walls, partitions, floors, roofs);
Openings and various holes in structural elements;
Stairwells, elevator shafts, ventilation ducts.
The last two types of pathways also represent the primary routes for smoke propagation during building fires.
