The name of our company emphasizes the relationship with the great Russian scientist Nikolai Zelinsky (1861-1953), the creator of the first effective gas mask (1915).
During the First World War the losses among the soldiers were huge. Nikolai Zelinsky was given the task to find a reliable means of protection against gases. He came up with the idea to use ordinary charcoal as an absorber and developed a way to activate the carbon by calcinations, which considerably increased its absorption capacity. Zelinsky gas masks saved the lives of thousands of soldiers.
Zelinsky lived a long life (92 years) and devoted three quarters of a century to science. Like many years ago, nowadays Zelinsky gas mask is the primary foundation of the existing chemical protection.
